Salinity-based spatial evaluation of groundwater quality for agricultural use

Groundwater resources along with surface-water meet the needs of urban, industrial, and agricultural sectors, therefore, their quality should be examined. Water indices are useful tools for aquifer management. In this research, groundwater Miandoab Plain in province West Azerbaijan, northwest Iran, purposes was investigated. For purpose, concentrations ions Mg2+, Ca2+, Na+, HCO3−, SO42−, Cl− pH level were measured. The effective salinity potential as well sodium adsorption ratio electrical conductivity analyzed to evaluate salinity. geostatistical analysis performed using GS+ software, zoning maps hazard prepared ArcGIS. To prepare maps, (EC), (ES), (PS), (SAR) SO42, selected based on semi-variogram values cross-validation technique. map considered basis preparing region. results showed that east plain is suitable, central part can recommended under constant supervision, west unsuitable agriculture. other words, according geography plain, recharge area low-risk increases toward discharge area. pave way relevant organizations plan environmental sectors.
